Standard Group CEO Resigns
Standard Group CEO Chaacha Mwita is set to step down on November 1, 2026, marking another high-level leadership shift at the media house.
Mwita’s resignation comes just seven months after his substantive appointment on April 1, 2026, following a stint as Acting CEO from July 2025. His departure accompanies the recent resignation of Non-Executive Directors Edward Mwasi and Dr. James McFie, alongside the incoming appointments of Anthony Ambaka Kegode, Tom Odongo, and Elishah Njeru.
This leadership transition unfolds against a backdrop of financial headwinds, including reported losses, a suspended Ksh1.5 billion rights issue, and delayed government advertising dues. The company operates prominent media platforms such as The Standard newspaper, KTN Television, and Radio Maisha.
The announcement also coincides with wider structural and editorial adjustments across Kenya’s media landscape, including recent executive changes at Nation Media Group.
