Katrina Kaif on her biggest relationship lesson

Katrina Kaif’s views on being single

During the conversation, she also recalled discussing relationships with a few friends who believed that most women need a man in their lives. However, she said that she did not share the same view.“I really don’t think that’s true for everyone. I can't speak for women as a collective, but it’s definitely not true for me being single,” she said.Katrina added that she was becoming more comfortable with herself. “I’m becoming comfortable with who I am, which I don’t think I was for a large part of my life because you somehow judge yourself based on how much love or attention you get from your partner.

When your relationship is amazing, you feel great about yourself. Your relationship suffers a little bit; your self-esteem and image take a beating, which is not a good thing,” she said.

Katrina said nobody else is responsible for your happiness

Sharing the biggest lesson she had learned from her relationships, the ‘Welcome’ actress said that happiness should not depend entirely on another person.“My biggest learning from my relationships is, ‘Nobody else is responsible for your happiness.’

You shouldn’t give away your power because you are burdening that person with responsibility,” she said. She explained that no one can carry the responsibility for another person's happiness forever. According to Katrina, such expectations can eventually affect a relationship when either person feels let down. She said, “Nobody can take that responsibility for a long period of time. At some point they are going to let you down, or you let them down, and that’s when the relationship suffers.”

Her idea of a perfect relationship

Katrina also shared what she believes makes a relationship beautiful. She said love should involve mutual respect and admiration rather than dependence.“The most beautiful kind of love is when neither of you need each other. There’s no great dependence on the other person, there’s admiration, respect, companionship, and there’s a space of ease between you,” she added.Katrina Kaif has been happily married to Vicky Kaushal since December 2021. The couple welcomed their son, Vihaan, in November 2025. Since becoming parents, they have largely kept their family life private.
