GSK (GSK) plans to cut up to 1,217 jobs in Belgium as part of a proposed restructuring affecting research and development, production, and international support services, according to multiple Belgian media reports.
The plan covers 482 white-collar employees and 735 management positions, according to union ABVV Chemie. Production-floor worker positions are reportedly excluded from the proposed reorganization.
GSK (GSK) outlined the restructuring at a special works council meeting on Wednesday, October 14. The proposed changes affect GSK Biologicals, the group’s vaccine business, according to a local report. GSK (GSK) employs about 8,500 people across its Belgian sites in Wavre, Rixensart and Gembloux.
The proposed cuts follow a reduction of more than 400 jobs in Belgium during 2025, mainly through temporary-contract non-renewals and voluntary departure.
