Banyumas, Central Java (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Industry has facilitated the establishment of nearly 400 new enterprises through a training program aimed at developing small-scale industries in Banyumas and Cilacap, Central Java, from Oct 30 to Nov 2.

"The activity drew almost 400 participants. Through this program for fostering new entrepreneurs, we aim to develop new business owners and help them grow into small-scale industrial players," Director of Small and Medium-sized Industries for Chemicals, Apparels, and Crafts at the ministry, Budi Setiawan, said here on Monday.

Speaking at the program's closing event in Banyumas, Setiawan emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that small industries have made significant contributions to the national economy.

He added the ministry had organized 40 similar programs nationwide this year, each attracting an average of 300 to 400 participants.

"In fact, some activities drew as many as 400 to 500 participants," he added.

He explained the ministry partnered with the Commission VII of the House of Representatives in rolling out the programs. The activities included the distribution of production tools and equipment tailored to the strengths and industrial potential of each host region.

Setiawan added the ministry's support also extends to existing businesses through technical assistance, product design training, certification facilitation, and programs aimed at expanding market access.

Throughout 2026, he continued, the ministry has facilitated the participation of small and medium-scale industries in the handicraft and apparel sectors in various exhibitions to help them reach wider markets.

Setiawan also highlighted the assistance in obtaining halal certification, batik certification, and compliance certification for Good Cosmetics Manufacturing Practices (CPKB).

Elaborating further, the ministry's efforts are aimed at helping entrepreneurs obtain a Business Identification Number (NIB).

"With an NIB (Business Registration Number), they are registered in our database as small-scale industrial businesses, enabling us to tailor follow-up programs to their needs," he remarked.

Setiawan went on to say the ministry is coordinating with relevant local government agencies to determine appropriate follow-up support and identify small-scale industrial businesses in need of assistance, particularly those operating in the chemical, apparel, and handicraft sectors.
