A highly anticipated Pokémon Trading Card Game featuring a Legendary creature has been officially cut from the Delta Reign set – at least from the core expansion. The release of Delta Reign for Pokémon TCG will mark the end of the expansions to the game in 2026. The new set is an adaptation of the Japanese Storm Emeralda expansion, and it’s mostly focused on Mega Rayquaza as its headliner Pokémon, though there are already several other important chase cards. Even so, ahead of the Delta Reign release on November 6, there’s now information that an important card has been cut.

As seen in a new report by War Gamer, an anticipated Mega Rayquaza ex card has been cut from the main Delta Reign set. This does not mean that the card does not exist in English, but that it is unobtainable from Delta Reign booster packs. According to the report, the Ultra Rare full art version of Mega Rayquaza ex has been removed from the packs. There hasn’t been confirmation on exactly how the card will arrive in the English set, but there are some ideas about what’s going to happen, given that it can’t be found in booster packs.

As speculated by the outlet, the best guess is that the Ultra Rare version of the Mega Rayquaza ex card in Pokémon TCG: Delta Reign will be made into a promo card for one of the boxed products. This could mean that the card will be easier to obtain, since it will be a guaranteed card, depending on the product it becomes a part of. Collectors won’t be ripping booster packs in search of this card. As a consequence, it’s likely that its market price will be far below the average for other versions of Mega Rayquaza ex.

We already know that the Pokémon TCG: Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box will not feature it, as the promo card available within this premium product is an Illustration Rare (IR) full art version of Kyogre. The Pokémon Center version of the ETB will feature two IR Kyogre promo cards, one of which has the Pokémon Center logo printed on it. For now, there is no confirmation about where the Ultra Rare version of Mega Rayquaza ex will be obtainable – there is even a chance that it won’t even be within the Delta Reign set.

Apart from the Ultra Rare version of Mega Rayquaza ex, it’s been confirmed that the regular version of Eevee ex has also been cut from the expansion, and it’s unclear whether it will be obtainable in the future or not. Some of these cards may be thrown in as promos for the first Pokémon TCG set of 2027, Flowing Fists, though the expansion planned for February will have a completely different vibe.

It’s not uncommon to see some cards cut when adapted into English, but it is a bit of a surprise that a full art version of Mega Rayquaza ex, which is the Legendary headliner for the Delta Reign expansion, has been cut from the set. We’ll have to wait a bit longer before seeing what will happen, but there is a chance that the Pokémon TCG card will be released in the near future.
