Driver who rammed three vehicles tests positive for four drugs

KUALA LUMPUR: A driver who rammed into three vehicles at a traffic light junction in Jalan Kampung Bandar Dalam yesterday was found to have tested positive for four different types of drugs.

City Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the crash occurred at 3.50pm two days ago.

Footage of the incident subsequently went viral on Threads, prompting traffic police to track down all the vehicles involved.

"All drivers were asked to report to the police station.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that a 30-year-old man driving a Honda Civic lost control of his car before crashing into three other vehicles," he said in a statement today.

Zamzuri said the crash was believed to have been caused by the Honda Civic driver losing control of his vehicle and driving recklessly.

"The three vehicles hit were a Proton Saga driven by a 46-year-old Algerian man, a Nissan Almera driven by a 46-year-old woman, and another Honda Civic driven by a 51-year-old woman.

"However, no injuries were reported in the incident," he said.

He said the Honda Civic driver went to the police station to lodge a report at 10.39pm yesterday.

"A breathalyser test conducted on the driver returned negative for alcohol.

"However, a urine screening conducted by the Dang Wangi district police headquarters Narcotics Crime Investigation Division found the driver positive for benzo, methamphetamine, ketamine, and amphetamine," he said.

He added that the case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and further investigations were ongoing.
