The truck collided with two light delivery vehicles (LDVs) and a sport utility vehicle (SUV), the department said in a statement.

“Both the driver and a passenger from Ireland, who were travelling in the SUV, and the driver of one of the LDVs, a Mozambican, lost their lives on impact,” said spokesperson Zandile Mavuso.

“The drivers of both the truck and the other LDV were rushed to Kiaat Hospital with serious injuries.”

The road was partially closed, with traffic moving slowly. Motorists have been warned to approach the area with caution.
