EA is officially shutting down BioWare as part of a massive round of layoffs affecting approximately 400 employees, including roughly 50 at the legendary RPG developer.
The closure also means that the highly anticipated next installment in the Mass Effect franchise has sadly been canceled, with BioWare confirming that development on the project has ended. The shocking announcement brings an end to more than 30 years of BioWare history, leaving the future of beloved franchises like Mass Effect and Dragon Age uncertain (via RPGSite).
More to come.
