Jason Sudeikis shares uncertain update on Ted Lasso's future

They said it would never happen, but Ted Lasso returned this year for a fourth season. The latest run changed things up focusing on a women's team and left quite a few plot threads hanging.
It seems like a fifth season is definitely happening, but according to Jason Sudekis, he's not actually sure yet.
Appearing on the Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso podcast, Sudekis was asked if he had a season 5 and possibly even a sixth season mapped out.

"I mean, that was the endeavour, going back into it, which is sort of, 'Oh, there's more, there's more in there. We're gonna need a bigger cup'," he said. "We'll see. It takes a village. I would like to [do more]. I think it'd be fun."
When the interviewer said he was being coy, Sudekis said it was "unintentionally" and explained that he "just [doesn't] know" what the show's future is.
"We haven't started a writers' room or anything like that", he said, adding he would "assume" that Apple would want to do more.
Season 4 was supposed to feature Anthony Head returning as villainous Rupert Mannion, but the creators were told that he wasn't available to film.

With his sad passing earlier this year (after the season was filmed), Brendan Hunt recently revealed that the team aren't sure if Rupert would also die if season 5 ever happens.
"I don’t know," he said. "I mean, he didn’t pass until after we shot everything, so we'll have to figure that out when and if we get the chance to reconvene."
"We had an outside hope of bringing him back in the last episode [of season 4]," he also stated.
"We were told that that was not going to be possible. So yeah, we had an idea for a little thing, but it was not going to happen."
Ted Lasso seasons 1-4 are available to stream now on Apple TV.
