TV tonight: how three rockstar chefs sparked a foodie revolution

Translate

9pm, BBC Two
“Gastronomy is the French Foreign Legion,” says Marco Pierre White. “They don’t question you too much.” In the 1980s, the culinary desert of the UK saw the rise of three difficult, brilliant chefs (Pierre White was joined by Gordon Ramsay and Heston Blumenthal) who triggered a foodie revolution. This three-parter doesn’t quite avoid presentational, era-specific cliches, but it does capture the energy generated by the trio’s rise. Phil Harrison

Aldi: The Next Big Seller

8pm, Channel 4
This new series offers a glimpse into the inner workings of a supermarket – and if that kind of thing is your bag of pick’n’mix, it’s fascinating. We begin with sweet treats: from mochi to waffles, how does a new product reach the shelves? Anita Rani and Jimmy Doherty are on the panel sitting in judgment. PH

Dear Henry: Our Fight for Justice – A Tonight Special

9pm, ITV1
The awful 2025 murder of Henry Nowak became a political football after being exploited by the far right. But this touching programme rightly repositions Nowak’s death as what it primarily is: a terrible family tragedy. Paul Brand talks to Nowak’s family as they share their memories of a much-missed son and brother. PH

Taskmaster

Series 22 hasn’t been TM’s strongest outing, with Richard Ayoade’s commitment to being contrary often wearing thin. But there is much to enjoy in this final episode (including a final visit to London’s Museum of Water and Steam), before the winner receives that coveted trophy replica of Greg Davies’s bonce. Big Brother: Live Final

9pm, ITV2
Another series of the all-seeing reality series comes to an end, having been dogged with numerous complaints about the contestant Omar’s problematic behaviour (Women’s Aid said Big Brother risked “presenting abuse as a form of entertainment”). For anyone still watching (or hatewatching, perhaps?), a reunion episode also airs on Friday night. HJD

It Gets Worse

10pm, Channel 4
The double-bill season finale of this brilliantly insufferable sitcom begins with the cosmically self-involved Ethan’s insistence on wearing a tank top to the funeral. OK, but it is black, guys? That’s the tipping point, before Abi, Sam and Ethan end up having the mother of all barnies, just before entering the church. PE

Live sport

Europa League football: Crystal Palace v Hoffenheim 5pm, TNT Sports 1. Sunderland v Dinamo Zagreb follows at 7.45pm.
