A$AP Rocky Jokes "It Was Hell" After Teasing New Rihanna Music

Rihanna Reveals She Has at Least 170 Unreleased Songs in the Vault
A$AP Rocky received a round of applause from Rihanna fans after his recent revelation, but he's not taking a bow.
Instead, the “Fashion Killa” singer—who confirmed his partner is busy work, work, working on new music 10 years after the release of her album Anti—is revealing what life was like immediately after he spilled the tea.
“It was hell,” A$AP admitted to The Hollywood Reporter in a video posted to Instagram Oct. 18. “Yeah, I shouldn't have done that.”
And the 38-year-old—who shares kids RZA, 4, Riot, 3, and Rocki, 13 months, with the “Rude Boy” singer—had no desire to discuss her musical decisions anymore, laughing, “I wanna mind my business.”
A$AP originally confirmed Rihanna had music on the brain for a new album—which the fans have dubbed R9—in August, saying on The Jason Lee Show, “She in the studio right now. Yeah, I said it. Sorry, babe. Like, bro, she working. She cooking, no funny s--t.”
Although he regretted the omission even then, quipping, “Damn, I’ma get in trouble for this.”
Still, Rihanna herself recently revealed that she actually never stopped the music and has almost 170 songs that fans haven’t heard.
"If there are 10 products in a vault," she shared during an Oct. 6 TikTok Live stream for her Fenty Beauty brand, "then I have at least 17 vaults."

She’d also teased new music in February, saying in an Instagram video that she was spending some time in the music studio, possibly giving fans what they came for.
“I have to go to the studio after this,” the 38-year-old told her team. “And I have to make a Mardi Gras costume for my son after the studio.”
And while fans have been clamoring for a new album from the “We Found Love” singer, she herself has been wary of making sure her new music could shine bright like the diamond of her previous success.

“I was just like, ‘No, it’s not me. It’s not right,'” she told Harper’s Bazaar 2025. “It’s not matching my growth. It’s not matching my evolution. I can’t do this. I can’t stand by this. I can’t perform this for a year on tour.”
“After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears,” she added. “It has to count. It has to matter.”

After announcing they were expecting their first baby, Rihanna recalled keeping her pregnancy a secret from her friends. "It was harder for me to keep it from my posse, because they're around me, they know my habits," she told E!'s Justin Sylvester. "They're like, 'You don't want something to drink? You're not smoking?' And I'm eating all the things I'm not used to eating. They know I hate sweets and I'm all of a sudden asking for cookies and donuts. But finally, I just had to let it all out, and they were all shocked, of course, as the world was shocked as well."
