A new leak for Pokémon Winds and Waves has seemingly revealed a new Psyduck evolution, and if you’re a fan of the classic Generation 1 creature, you may be thrilled to learn what may be in store for it in the upcoming Gen 10 games. Ahead of the potential release of Pokémon Winds and Waves in November 2027, there have been several leaks about the game, ranging from its map size to the specific Pokémon that may appear. Even before its announcement, there had been leaks about its existence and how it would be set in an archipelago.

The leaks, however, are far from over. A while back, Vice made a report on how Psyduck could have a new evolution, thanks to a potential variant version of the Gen 1 Pokémon in Winds and Waves. The details are still scarce, but there are a few possibilities regarding this creature. The rumors hint that the new Psyduck will be an Ice- and Psychic-type Pokémon, and that with this new typing, it will have brand-new evolutions, including a third evolution stage.

The rumored Psyduck variant in Pokémon Winds and Waves could take different forms. As highlighted by the outlet, it could be a classic regional variant. This means that Psyduck is still part of the same species, but its typing is changed, and it could unlock new evolutions. This is the case with Gen 8’s Galarian Meowth, for example, which does not evolve into Persian, but instead, Perrserker.

Alternatively, this rumored Psyduck variant may not actually be Psyduck, but a convergent form. An example of a convergent form Pokémon is Gen 9’s Wigglet, which is similar to Diglett, but not technically the same species. Regardless of what form this new Psyduck will take, the rumors hint at it having brand-new evolution possibilities. This new form in Pokémon Winds and Waves may even unlock a new evolution stage.

According to the report, the new Psyduck form will not evolve into any type of Golduck variant, but instead into a brand-new Pokémon in Winds and Waves. On top of that, it seems like this brand-new creature will have another evolution planned for it, too. If the leaks prove to be true, Psyduck may actually get a full evolution chain in Gen 10.

For now, these leaks should be taken with a huge grain of salt. Despite the fact that most leaks have proven to be accurate so far, a lot is still subject to change, and The Pokémon Company may simply discard some of the things planned for the game. It seems we’ll have to wait to learn more about this rumored Psyduck form and new evolution in Pokémon Winds and Waves, but they do sound promising.
