KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 — Young leaders from the Umno Patriotic School (SPU) have successfully engaged with nearly 50,000 first-time voters, both in person and online, during the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said that 100 ‘Patriots’ were deployed to assist the Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery in 50 state constituencies during the Johor state election.

In Negeri Sembilan, 50 Patriots met 13,267 voters in person and another 7,276 online across 25 state constituencies.

“These SPU youths do not just sit in the back (of the hall). They go down to the field because they believe in the Umno struggle,” he said during the winding-up speech at the 2026 Umno General Assembly here yesterday.

Wan Rosdy, who is also SPU Board of Governors chairman, said the school, which was established in January 2025, has so far produced more than 200 young leaders through five series, with the sixth series expected to be held soon.

According to him, the selection of participants for the next series will be conducted meticulously to ensure that SPU continues to produce quality young leaders capable of helping and continuing the party’s struggle in the future.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy proposed four ‘BLUE’ approaches to strengthen and translate the “Blue Malaysia Agenda” (Agenda Malaysia Biru) initiated by Umnon President Datuk Seri  Ahmad Zahid Hamidi into actions at the grassroots level.

He said the approaches include building relationships with the people, not just during elections, as well as binding voters through service, trust, and assisting in resolving their problems.

The third approach is to win the hearts of the people through tangible work, language that is close to the people, and leadership that understands the pulse of the people, while the final approach is to change the perception of Umno. — Bernama
