Translate

A Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) officer was killed and three colleagues injured while conducting an operation in the waters off Perlis early this morning.

Berita Harian reported that the incident occurred at about 12.30am while MMEA was carrying out a border surveillance and control operation in the waters off Sungai Padang in Kangar.

The officer is understood to have left behind a wife and two children, aged 14 and 11.

His remains are expected to be taken to his hometown in Kuala Nerang, Kedah, today after a post-mortem at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah in Kangar.

When contacted, an aide to home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said MMEA would hold a press conference on the matter soon.
