Coronation Street star confirms Lisa's future and addresses unknown backstory

Coronation Street star Vicky Myers first joined the soap in 2021 as the stern DS Lisa Swain, but what started out as a four-episode stint, soon developed into an award-winning role, with Lisa becoming one of the soap's most popular characters.
By 2024, Lisa was a regular character on the cobbles, and viewers were introduced to her daughter Betsy Swain, as well as the existence of her late wife Becky Falconer. The detective then sparked up a romance with Corrie favourite Carla Connor and the iconic couple got married earlier this year.
Speaking about what's next for her character, Myers shared that she has no plans to leave the cobbles.

"As long as she challenges me, then I'll stay forever," she told The Mirror.
The star reflected on her journey on the soap, having arrived in a guest capacity before becoming a long-term Weatherfield resident. She explained how Lisa changed and grew as the writers fleshed out the character.
"It's unfamiliar territory for me because of the previous roles that I've played. She wasn't a character that needed to be written for, and so as time has progressed, so has she."
Despite a traumatic blast from the past last year, with Becky's return from the dead, viewers still don't know much about Lisa's life before 2021. It's something Myers hopes will be explored in the future.
"I think it will be interesting to explore her family backstory, and why she's not in touch with any of them. What happened to her as a child, what's her story, and what was her journey with her sexuality?

"When did she realise that she was queer? All of these things intrigue me with her. I've got my ideas. I've sort of built things up, but they all need to align together with the storylines. Lisa's a bit of an enigma. We don't know everything about her."
She added: "There are things that I know. She's had a past, we've all had a past. Not everybody gets her, not everybody likes her. I'm not sure if I'd want to play somebody that everybody likes, and Lisa's a challenge for me to play."
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
