Dinesh Karthik Has A Solution For Playing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Without Dropping Sanju Samson In 5th India vs NZ T20I

India play the final T20I of a five-match series against New Zealand on Saturday. So far, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma have played in all the matches. Ishan Kishan was injured for the second and third T20Is, and thus Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played in those two matches. With Ishan fit again, Sooryavanshi made way for the senior player. The fifth T20I is on Sunday, and with India already leading the contest by an insurmountable 3-1 margin, former India star Dinesh Karthik suggested a way to include both Sanju and Sooryavanshi in the line-up.
So far, from the time Sooryavanshi was named in the squad for the tours of Ireland and England, the toss-up has been between Samson and Sooryavanshi for the opening role.
"Because it is a game where we have won the series, I wouldn't mind holding on to Axar and letting go of one of the pacers. I would go down the route of giving Arshdeep a break and using Mayank and Prince. Arshdeep has been outstanding as usual. He has been our best bowler in the series, and there is no harm in sitting him down to see what a spinner can do in these conditions," Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz.
"I know the world will want Vaibhav to play. If they want to play Vaibhav, it has got to be in place of Abhishek, to give him a break, and that is how it should be. Every time there is anything related to Vaibhav, it is always Sanju. If you really want to fit in Vaibhav, Abhishek can take a break. The key word here is 'break'," Karthik added.
In the same discussion, former India star Ambati Rayudu opined that India can bring in a spinner in place of a pacer.
"You can play an extra spinner in Hamilton in place of one of the pacers. So either Kuldeep or Varun. I don't think I would want to disturb the combination of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir because there is something magical happening between those three. They would want to have enough game time together to understand each other," Ambati Rayudu said.
