UCL: Como Equal 55-Year Record After 9-1 Win At Lens As Arsenal, Man City Secure Away Wins

Translate

Debutants Como 1907 produced one of the biggest away wins in European Cup history, thrashing RC Lens 9-1 on matchday four in the Champions League on Wednesday.

It is the first time a team has scored nine away in the European Cup since Feyenoord 9-0 at Olympiakos Nicosia in 1971 – 55 years ago.

Cesc Fabregas’ men, playing only their second ever away game in the competition, led 3-0 at half-time through Tasos Douvikas (7′, 32′) and Nico Paz (40′) – Douvikas with a brace, Paz with a stunner from an acute angle. The Italian side then scored SIX more after the break:

Como move to nine points from 4 games with 19 goals scored – the most ever by an Italian side in their first four European Cup games. They beat RB Leipzig, beat Manchester United 4-1 last time out before the dominant win over Lens.
