Control Resonant: Release date, pre-orders, gameplay and more

Remedy Entertainment is back, and the Control Resonant release date is finally upon us.

Beloved developer Sam Lake's Finnish studio is taking us back to Manhattan and the Federal Bureau of Control for another mind-bending experience.

If you're curious what the game is like, our own Control Resonant review was glowing.

So, if you're excited to jump in for yourself, here's everything you need to know about the Control Resonant release date, launch times and more.

When is the Control Resonant release date and UK launch time?

Control Resonant will release on 24 September 2026 for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5 at 3pm BST in the UK.

For those of you around the world, here's what time the game releases in your time zone:

• US Pacific (PDT) – 7am
• US Mountain (MDT) – 8am
• US Central (CDT) – 9am
• US Eastern (EDT) – 10am
• Brazil (BRT) – 11am
• Central Europe (CEST) – 4pm
• South Africa (SAST) – 4pm
• Finland (EEST) – 5pm
• UAE (GST) – 6pm
• Singapore (SGT) – 10pm
• China (CST) – 10pm

Can I pre-order Control Resonant?

Yes! Pre-orders for the game opened in June.

You can purchase a digital copy of the game for yourself on your platform's respective storefront:

• PC (Steam)
• PlayStation Store
• Xbox Store

As for physical copies, it appears that Control Resonant is only available to pre-order in the US at the time of writing.

You can get either the standard Physical Edition or the Steelbook Edition from the following retailers:

Players who pre-order the game will also get the following pre-order bonuses:

Control Resonant editions

There are four different editions of Control Resonant available. These are:

• Standard Edition
• Physical Edition
• Digital Deluxe Edition
• Steelbook Edition

The Physical Edition, it should be noted, is exactly the same as the Standard Edition, just with a physical disc.

The Digital Deluxe Edition, however, does include some added bonuses:

• 48-hour Early Access
• Digital Artbook
• Original Soundtrack
• Untapped Artifact (Wallet)
• Starter Resource Bundle
• AWE Mission Outfit

The Steelbook Edition is, in effect, the 'deluxe' version of the Physical Edition. It includes:

• Black and red Steelbook with Dylan Faden on the cover
• Three Premium Fine Art Prints
• Poster
• Collectable Outer Slipcase

Control Resonant gameplay and story details

Instead of being a third-person shooter like the first game, Control Resonant is an action RPG.

Players take control of Jesse Faden's brother, Dylan, who has been released by the Federal Burea of Control (FBC) to help save Manhattan from a collection of supernatural entities including the Hiss, the Mold and more, while searching for his sister Jesse along the way.

Dylan is armed with a melee weapon known as the Aberrant. Like Jesse's Service Weapon, it's a shapeshifting weapon capable of swapping between different forms such as a two-handed hammer, dual-wielded blades and more.

Like any Remedy game, there will no doubt be plenty of threads and references linking Resonant to their other games, most notably Control and the Alan Wake series.

Here's how the developers themselves describe the game:

"After years in confinement at the hands of the FBC, Dylan Faden emerges into a warped Manhattan at the peak of a paranatural crisis.

"Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his new-found powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan."

Is there a trailer for Control Resonant?

Yes! The game was first revealed with an announcement trailer during The Game Awards 2025.
