‘We have 200 pairs’: Chloe Fisher shares this fashion obsession with her DJ husband, Fisher
Chloe Fisher, host of the Darling, Shine! podcast, has an obsession with fashion accessories. Ahead, she charts her style journey, including working with heritage label Jag on a new collection.
I’d describe my style as relaxed and effortless. The oldest thing in my wardrobe is a pair of black Converse high-tops I’ve had since I was a teenager. I wear them to music festivals. I don’t wear heels a lot, but I have a thing for them. We were in Ibiza recently for my birthday and Loewe had these beautiful brown croc “Toy” heels. I had to have them.
On my first date with Paul [Fisher, a DJ], we were in Bali and I wore a black crop top and white terry towelling shorts. For a recent date night, I wore a pair of pinstriped By Sid pants with a corset top and heels. On a plane, I wear Nagnata track pants with an oversized tee because I’m breastfeeding. On the red carpet, I like something daring. I wore an outrageous pink chiffon dress by Alice McCall to the 2019 Grammys.
My favourite fashion eras are the ’90s for the denim, oversized jackets and hoop earrings and the ’70s for the headscarves, crochet and little shorts. All my favourite designers are Australian; I’m a massive fan of Elce, Sir and Bec + Bridge. Also, Jag is such an iconic brand – I’m excited about our collaboration. We did a pink and brown hibiscus print on denim and other pieces inspired by an
old dress of mine.
Three essential items in my wardrobe are great jeans, an oversized Sir blazer and white St Agni tees. My go-to jewellery is a necklace with Paul and the girls’ [Bobbi and Andi] initials on it, hoop earrings and a Rolex watch. I love accessories. Paul and I have a whole wall of sunglasses, probably 200 pairs between us. But handbags are my biggest weakness; a recent favourite is a colourful crochet Miu Miu bag. On my wish list is a Louis Vuitton “Multipass” bag that I can fit all the baby stuff in.
When I was a child, my mum would put me in fashion shows and there were some tragic outfits such as a pink skirt with a thick belt and black cowl-neck top. My worst fashion mistake was at Coachella a few years ago. I wore this amazing black jumpsuit with sequins and stripes, but it gave me a full camel toe.
A current fashion trend I love is low-waisted pants with a cropped tank or tee. I’m postpartum, so I don’t feel I can pull that off yet, but it’s my goal. One thing I said I’d never wear again is Havaianas thongs, but I’m back in them. The shoes I wear most are Adidas “Gazelles” and brown-and-blue New Balance “Abzorb 2000” sneakers.
My favourite fashion icons are my friends. My best mate Ellidy [Pullin] has such cool individual style. On a typical working day, I’ll wear jeans and a singlet or a Nagnata “All-In” suit. On the weekend, it’s an Elce button-up shirt with a singlet and shorts.
