Indonesia to provide branding support to upscale 500 MSMEs

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso announced that the government will provide targeted branding support for approximately 500 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to enhance the competitiveness of local products.
The initiative aims to improve the visual appeal and brand recognition of MSME goods, ensuring they become more recognizable to consumers and competitive in the market.
"Branding facilities will be provided, which means we will figure out how to make your products well-known," Santoso said here on Tuesday.
He emphasized that while local products may be of high quality, they must be paired with appealing packaging and a strong brand identity to capture consumer attention.
The program will be officially launched during the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), scheduled for October 14 to 18, 2026, at ICE BSD City in Tangerang, Banten.
Following the exhibition, the Ministry of Trade will conduct a selection process to finalize the 500 enterprises eligible for the program.
Santoso explained that the branding initiative is part of a broader synergy with various stakeholders to elevate the overall quality of Indonesian MSMEs.
In addition to brand identity, the government provides ongoing assistance regarding standardization, physical packaging, product quality, and market access.
He has expressed hope that these support measures will enable local enterprises to secure a stronger foothold in the domestic market while preparing them to successfully penetrate international export markets.
"We have collaborated extensively with various agencies that are helping MSMEs elevate their competitiveness, so they can dominate their own domestic market," Santoso said.
