Pearly-Thinaah settle for bronze after semi-final defeat
KUALA LUMPUR: Pearly Tan-M Thinaah's bid to become the first Malaysian women's doubles pair to reach an Asian Games badminton final ended in the semi-finals today.
The world No. 5 Malaysians lost 16-21, 22-20, 21-12 to China's world No. 1 Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium.
This is their 11th defeat to the Chinese pair in 14 meetings.
Pearly-Thinaah will leave the Aichi-Nagoya Games with bronze, Malaysia's first women's doubles medal at the Asian Games since Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei in 2014.
