Hatzalah to dispatch drone rescue team to aid search for missing Israeli tourist on Mount Olympus

Hatzalah's drones will operate with local Greek forces in the area, focusing on sites that are difficult to reach on foot.

United Hatzalah announced that it would be dispatching a drone search-and-rescue team to Greece in order to aid in the effort to locate missing Israeli Ami Yogev on Mount Olympus.

Hatzalah was asked to assist in the search by Yogev's family after the tourist went missing on September 20. It will operate with local Greek forces in the area, focusing on sites that are difficult to reach on foot.

The drone unit, Hatzalah said, is equipped with thermal imaging, illumination, and loudspeakers. The team accompanying the drones will also carry satellite communications equipment, radios, emergency and survival gear, and medical supplies.

Hatzalah has also launched a "My Mitzvah" fundraising campaign to raise money for the ongoing search-and-rescue operation.

According to the fundraiser page, Yogev's brother Shlomi is currently in Greece, assisting in the search.

Foreign Ministry aiding in search for missing Israeli

Yogev set out on Sunday, September 20, for a hike in the Mount Olympus region, his family told the press, adding that they lost contact with him shortly after that.

The last reported contact was with his mother, to whom he sent a photo from the second stop on the trail he was hiking.

"The Israeli Consul in Athens and the Foreign Ministry's Department for Israelis Abroad have been in contact with local authorities, working to provide all possible assistance in locating the Israeli with whom contact has been lost in Greece," the ministry said in a statement.
