‘P-Valley’ to End With Season 3 at Starz

The streaming and cable outlet has set a Dec. 4 premiere date for the critically acclaimed Lionsgate TV series’ third season — and also announced that the coming season will be the last one for P-Valley. When the nine-episode season premieres, it will have been more than four years since the show’s second season concluded (in August 2022).

Season three was put on hold during the 2023 strikes, but filming had begun by May 2024. The final season of creator and showrunner Katori Hall‘s drama will find the dancers and staff at The Pynk dealing with the opening of a casino in their town of Chucalissa, Mississippi, and the realization that, as the season’s logline puts it, “mo’ money does indeed bring mo’ mayhem. Dreamers, schemers, ballers, and shot-callers alike come from far and wide for a dance with chance — but are they willing to put their souls on the line for a legendary bag?”

Starz also released a teaser for the final season, which is below.

Hall, who based P-Valley on her play Pussy Valley, said in a statement that she thinks it’s time to bring the show to a close.

“Adapting my play into three seasons of television over the past decade has been the ride of a lifetime, filled with massive highs and lows that echo the ever-changing TV landscape,” Hall’s statement reads. “Much like The Pynk, this series has survived and thrived in perilous times, buoyed by the love and support of the greatest fanbase on EARF. The rarest honor a showrunner can have in today’s industry is to end a series on her own terms. This is why I chose to say goodbye with grace, grit and glitter, lowering the curtain on P-Valley at season three with a farewell y’all truly deserve. Together, as a framily, we will celebrate this journey, hopefully having been changed by the experience of being in community together.

“I am grateful to the folks at Starz, past and present, for greenlighting this series and giving a platform to so much amazing Black, queer, and femme talent. Starz was the one network who said yes to this story — but sometimes one yes is all you need.

“P-Valley is my rumination on ‘The American Dream,’ a visual novel of 27 chapters that chronicles the lives and times of the majestic and the marginalized — a love letter to those of us in the trenches. I am forever indebted to my amazing writers, cast, and crew who moved mountains to bring this story of the little-strip-club that-could to the world.”

Nicco Annan, Brandee Evans, Shannon Thornton, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Harriett D. Foy, Dan J. Johnson, Gail Bean, Psalms Salazar, Morocco Omari, Dominic DeVore, Jordan M. Cox, Thomas Q. Jones, Bertram Williams Jr., Mea Wilkerson and Loretta Devine are all set to reprise their roles in the final season.

Hall (who also directed the first two episodes of season three) executive produces P-Valley. Jennifer Arnold, Debbie Hayn-Cass, Kemiyondo Coutinho, and Ian Olympio are co-exec producers.
