UBC unveils title fights for Night of Champions

The Universal Boxing Council has announced that its “Night of Champions” series returns with Episode 2 on September 26, promising a stacked card of international and continental title fights.

According to the statement on Wednesday, the card will feature one international bout, described as a cross-border clash with high stakes, and a UBC African title fight in which top contenders will battle for the continental belt.

The bill will also showcase the best of Nigerian boxing talent.

The event follows the success of the series’ opener and is billed to build on it with what organisers describe as an explosive night of boxing.

The UBC has already begun planning for a bigger Episode 3, dubbed “The Banga,” which it says will be the pinnacle of the season.

That event is set to feature UBC African, international and world title fights, along with two Nigerian national title bouts involving female boxers, a heavyweight contest featuring Blessing Chukwuede and a welterweight bout featuring Precious Anime.

Details of the venue for Episode 3 are yet to be finalised, but the National Stadium, Lagos, and a venue in Apapa, Lagos, are the leading candidates.

The UBC said sponsors and advertisers interested in the series can reach out through Nanmet Promotions, while fighters, managers and agents seeking a place on the Episode 3 card have been asked to contact the organisation’s matchmakers.
