A court extended the detention of five suspects on Monday in connection with an alleged assault on a man in his 20s in Ramla’s Neot Shamir neighborhood, while six other suspects were released under restrictive conditions, police said.

Four suspects will remain in custody until Thursday, October 15. The fifth suspect’s detention was extended until Tuesday, October 13.

The victim, a Ramla resident, was lightly injured in the alleged attack on Sunday afternoon.

Police identify four additional suspects

Ramla police opened an investigation after receiving a report of the assault. Investigators initially identified and located seven suspects before identifying four more, bringing the total number questioned to 11.

All 11 were questioned at the Ramla police station. Following questioning, police released six under restrictive conditions and brought the remaining five before a court to request an extension of their detention.

Earlier report identified seven suspects as minors

N12 reported on Sunday that the seven initially arrested suspects were minors. According to its report, the assault occurred in the street in front of passersby, and the victim was taken for medical treatment.

Police said the investigation remained ongoing and that efforts to address youth violence would combine enforcement, prevention, and public awareness activities.
