Reece Weaver, the breakout star of Netflix’s America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, is extending her role as Roxie Hart in the Broadway production of Chicago for two more weeks.

Weaver will continue in the role through Sunday, Nov. 15. This marks the final extension for the multi-hyphenate, whose initial six-week run will now cap at 10 weeks. The show is playing at the Ambassador Theatre.

“I’m beyond thrilled and so incredibly grateful to be extending my time with Chicago for two more weeks!” Weaver told The Hollywood Reporter exclusively. “This experience has been one of the most exciting, challenging and rewarding seasons of my life. I’ve grown so much, not only as a performer but as a person, and have been stretched in ways I never imagined possible. I’ve learned that there is so much beauty in being challenged, continuing to learn, and allowing yourself to grow.”

Weaver said she appreciates the opportunity to play this character every night.

“This cast and team are truly so special, and I feel incredibly honored to continue this journey with them,” she said. “Stepping into Roxie’s shoes and discovering something new in her character each night has been such a gift and has rekindled my love for performing in ways I’ll always cherish. Getting to step onstage every night and share this story with a live audience is something I will never take for granted. My heart is so full, and I’m beyond thankful for this opportunity and for two more weeks with this incredible company. What a gift this has been!”

In addition, Weaver will be appearing alongside Ariana Madix, Whitney Leavitt, Alex Newell and Robyn Hurder for the one-night-only, 30th-anniversary celebration of Chicago on Nov. 16, benefiting the Entertainment Community Fund’s programs serving dancers.

Weaver is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and professional dancer best known for her appearance in America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. A former member of the University of Alabama Dance Team, Weaver earned her degree in dance before joining the iconic DCC squad as part of the 2023 rookie class, where she stayed for three seasons. She quickly became a fan favorite, sharing her life on the show and social media, including her marriage to husband Will and her passions for beauty, fashion, florals and faith.

Chicago is now the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. The 1920s-set tale shares the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids. The book is by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The current cast also includes Lissa deGuzman as Velma Kelly, Max von Essen as Billy Flynn, Natasha Yvette Williams as Matron “Mama” Morton, Red Concepción as Amos Hart and J. Workman as Mary Sunshine.

The show runs nightly, with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.ChicagoTheMusical.com.
