Matrade achieves record RM453mil in export deals at Semicon West 2026

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian companies secured RM453 million in export deals at Semicon West 2026 in San Francisco, marking the highest value recorded under the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp's (Matrade) coordinated participation at the semiconductor exhibition since 2007.

The achievement involved 10 Malaysian companies, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which showcased their capabilities at the trade event.

The export deals reflect international demand for Malaysian electronics and semiconductor solutions.

These products and technologies position Malaysian companies to tap opportunities arising from artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things, advanced technologies and industrial automation.

Matrade also strengthened industry ties through meetings with Semi, a semiconductor industry organisation representing 4,000 member companies, and the Phoenix Mayor's office to explore opportunities for greater collaboration and Malaysian participation in the global microelectronics and semiconductor ecosystem.

A networking session facilitated by Global Chamber, an industry network organisation based in Phoenix, Arizona, also enabled Malaysian companies to present their capabilities, engage potential clients and establish new business connections.

Matrade chief executive officer Datuk Indera Abu Bakar Yusof said the participation was part of the agency's broader efforts to accelerate Malaysia's semiconductor exports, particularly among homegrown SMEs, deepen trade and industry linkages with North America and expand into markets such as Latin America, Central Asia and Africa.

"These efforts support the aspirations of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the National Semiconductor Strategy, particularly in advancing Malaysian companies towards higher value-added activities, strengthening domestic supply-chain capabilities and capturing opportunities in the evolving global electronics and semiconductor industry," he added.

Matrade said it would continue to help Malaysian exporters strengthen their international readiness, build strategic partnerships and improve their competitiveness amid geopolitical uncertainties, intensifying global competition and rising environmental and sustainability requirements.

Through targeted trade promotion and industry engagements, the agency aims to help Malaysian companies move up the global value chain and support the sustainable growth of the country's electronics and semiconductor industry.
