ABUJA — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a man after intercepting a Lexus LX570 SUV allegedly bearing a concealed presidential number plate in Maitama District, Abuja.

The vehicle was intercepted at about 8pm on October 20, 2026, with the occupant taken into custody for investigation and possible prosecution, the police said.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said preliminary investigations revealed that the concealed number plate bore the inscription “PRESIDENCY” and registration number 10B218 FG.

Adeh said further investigations, following the suspect’s claim that he was the legitimate holder of the plate, allegedly revealed that the registration documents were forged.

She added that the suspect was also allegedly impersonating a permanent secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon their conclusion,” the police spokesperson said.

The command urged residents to remain law-abiding, cooperate with police operations and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.

It provided the following emergency contact numbers for reports: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
