Umair is a contributor for the ScreenRant anime section. He has always been enthusiastic about pop culture. Whether it's anime, movies, TV shows, manga, manhwa, video games, or pop music, he is always tuned in.

From the classic Dragon Ball to the underrated Dororo, he has a broad knowledge of the most.

When he's not writing, you may find him editing on his favorite anime, movie, or pop star on his Instagram.

For years, Dragon Ball fans have joked about the anime's rough early episodes, especially the infamous animation in Goku and Beerus' first big clash. A fight between a Saiyan and the God of Destruction should feel massive, and the original 2015 run didn't always deliver on that front. Now, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is giving the story a fresh presentation with redrawn scenes, updated action, and changes to the pacing. It's more than a chance to revisit an old favorite; it's a chance to see one of Goku's most important battles get the treatment it deserves.

The premiere kicked off this new version of the story by crashing Crunchyroll's servers, and episode 2 is the next step toward Goku's meeting with Beerus. Fans who remember Battle of Gods know just how badly this can go for Goku. Beerus isn't another villain waiting for a drawn-out beam struggle; he's the God of Destruction, and even a playful mood won't stop him from wiping out a planet if he gets annoyed. With the new edition reworking the early arc, the next episode has plenty to live up to.

Dragon Ball Super Beerus Featuring Vegeta With A Serious Look On His Face

The big deal here is Goku's Super Saiyan 3 showdown with Beerus on King Kai's planet. Anyone who watched the original Dragon Ball Super probably remembers episode 5 for all the wrong reasons. Goku's fight against the God of Destruction should have been an incredible moment, but the rough drawings and choppy animation quickly turned it into one of the anime's most infamous episodes. It's been memed to death over the years, so seeing this fight get another chance with redrawn visuals is a pretty big deal for the fans.

The new 19-episode version has already made changes to the original story's pacing and visuals, but episode 2 is where the action really gets a chance to speak for itself. Super Saiyan 3 Goku throwing everything at Beerus is one thing; watching Beerus brush it all off is what makes the fight so memorable. Goku is giving it everything he's got, and Beerus barely seems impressed. That's the kind of moment this remake needs to get right.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Episode 2 Will Decide If Toei's Remake Project Is Actually Worth Watching

Goku and Beerus' punches clash in Dragon Ball Battle of the Gods

If Toei Animation maintains this phenomenal pacing and visual standard throughout the rest of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, the future of the franchise's anime looks pretty exciting. Toei Animation has never been short on talent. Dragon Ball Super: Broly showed just how wild a Dragon Ball fight can look with the right time and care, while One Piece has had plenty of jaw-dropping moments of its own. The problem has often been the pressure of keeping a weekly anime running, which can leave animators with very little time to polish every scene.

That's why the approach behind these new projects matters. A tighter episode count gives the production more room to plan things out instead of constantly racing to meet another weekly deadline. And with Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol set to bring the Moro arc to the screen, it’s highly likely it will be a seasonal anime. For now, episode 2 has a pretty big job: showing that this new version of Dragon Ball can deliver when the fists start flying.
