EastEnders finally reveals the true reason for Ash's return to Walford

EastEnders has finally revealed the real reason behind Ash Panesar's surprise return to Walford. Ash returned to Albert Square last week after three years away in Canada and following a huge bust-up with her mum Suki Panesar-Unwin.

Last week Ash received divorce papers from her wife Gigi, with her family in the dark over her marriage ending. Then, on Monday's episode, a suspicious Suki messaged Gigi asking if they could have a chat.

Tonight (Tuesday, 29 September) Suki told Eve that she had spoken to Gigi who revealed that her and Ash had split up. Later Eve told Suki she was being a control freak, as Suki worried that Ash had lost her job in Canada.

Later Ash saw Amy and Avani having an argument in the Square and overhead Amy talking about Denise's cancer.

Ash then called round to visit Denise and spoke to her about her treatment options, while encouraging her to keep fighting and take it one round of chemo at a time.

Later, at Davinder's birthday party, Suki confronted Ash about her divorce and losing her job. But Ash fired back at her mum, bringing up the death of her son Jags in prison and saying it would be best if they stayed away from each other.

Spoilers for later in the week have revealed that Ash will go behind Suki's back to get a job at the Panesar House Surgery

Our source previously revealed: "Nugget has inherited the doctor’s surgery, so Ash goes straight to him and persuades him to hire her. It’s a sneaky move and a huge stab in the back for Suki.

"But Ash is determined to stick around, and she needs a job to do so – with or without her mum’s help! It’s unfortunate that Nugget is caught in the crossfire, but no Panesar is safe in the blistering war between Suki and Ash."

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
