EastEnders' Kat to investigate Zoe’s shocking death amid deadly Max secret

"Kat isn’t ready to process Zoe’s death," explains our EastEnders insider. "She can’t make peace with her daughter’s sudden and tragic passing until she knows who the last person was to see her alive. She won’t accept it was a freak accident."
This week’s powerful episodes have seen the family discover the shocking news about Zoe, after Kat found her eldest child dead in bed in the early hours of the morning.
While the Slater-Moons each came to terms with this huge loss, they were stunned by the revelation that Zoe attempted to call 999 in the hours before her death, but it was a low priority call so wasn’t followed up by the emergency services in time.
Alfie has attempted to bring everyone together during this devastating time and the family held a vigil for Zoe in her bedroom – but Kat was horrified that they’d touched Zoe’s belongings and kicked everyone out.
As the family agrees to plant a tree in Zoe’s memory next week, Kat removes herself from the preparations and hunts down Max, who she feels can help her with her investigation.

However, Kat has no idea that she’s turning to the man who saw Zoe before she died! And he’s determined to keep it a secret from the Slaters…
Lost without Kat, and knowing she should be there to pay tribute to her late daughter, Alfie confides in Denise and begs her to help talk some sense into Kat.
New pictures show Denise and Kat having an emotional conversation upstairs in The Vic, which is particularly poignant given that Denise is also currently having a difficult time with her cancer treatment.
However, as the devastated family gathers in mourning to plant Zoe’s tree, Kat is nowhere to be seen. Will she have a last-minute change of heart and finally be at peace, ready to say goodbye to Zoe?
EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
