Anne Hathaway Would Rather Have Another Knicks Championship Over a Second Oscar

When it comes to the New York Knicks, Anne Hathaway is their good luck charm.

Let’s revisit: On April 20, the Knicks lost Game 2 of their NBA Playoffs series to the Atlanta Hawks. On May 1, Hathaway’s “The Devil Wears Prada 2” premiered and featured a scene where Hathaway’s character chats up Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns at a Hamptons soiree. The Knicks subsequently went on a historic 13-game winning streak and did not lose again until Game 3 of the NBA Finals on June 9 (Trump attended). Hathaway, a New York City native and lifelong Knicks fan, was jokingly credited for their change in fortune by yours truly and a host of others.

And so, on Wednesday night, Hathaway visited “The Tonight Show” to promote her new erotic thriller “Verity” and host Jimmy Fallon brought up the Knicks meme before gifting “The Odyssey” star, who is five months pregnant, a signed jersey from Knicks savior OG Anunoby. (Hathaway professed her Anunoby fandom after he nearly crashed into her and her son while going into the stands for a ball during a Nov. 2024 game.)

“Are you serious? Oh my god!” exclaimed Hathaway, before putting the jersey on. The Knicks also sent Hathway a basket of gifts for her baby, replete with a card reading “All my best” signed by Anunoby. “I’m so excited about my jersey,” she said, playing with it instead of answering Fallon’s questions.

Later on in the show, Fallon tortured the pregnant Hathaway with a sadistic game called “Best Thing Ever,” forcing her to choose between two cherished things. At one point, he asked her to choose whether she’d rather win another Oscar — she’s a Best Supporting Actress frontrunner for her fiery turn in “The Odyssey” — or have the Knicks win another championship.

“I… I… OK….,” stumbled Hathaway, before choosing another Knicks title.

“I’m actually, like, the way my nervous system is reacting to that choice is really intense,” she explained.
