4 held for illegal gambling in Candon City

SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — Four people were arrested for allegedly engaging in an illegal gambling game locally known as "Pusoy dos," in Barangay Calongbuyan, Candon City, Ilocos Sur, police said.

In a report on Thursday (Aug. 20) Personnel of the Candon City Police Station arrested the four for alleged violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602, which penalizes illegal gambling activities.

Police said the suspects were taken into custody for documentation and proper disposition in accordance with existing laws and procedures.

The arrest was part of local police's efforts to curb illegal activities, said Lt. Col. Rodel C. Del Castillo, chief of the Candon City Police Station. —  Kenneth P. Tabin/Contributor
