“Death comes for all of us in the end,” says Takashi Miike. “Losing people brings that home, and it’s something that stays with you and feeds into your work.”
The 66-year-old filmmaker is in a reflective mood when he sits down for an interview with The Japan Times in Tokyo, shortly after the world premiere of “Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo” at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
