KUCHING, Aug 30 — Serian, Samarahan and Kuching recorded hazardous-level Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 12.30pm today.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE)’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, the API reading at the Serian District Police Headquarters monitoring station stood at 412, followed by Samarahan (332) and Kuching (304).

Sri Aman, meanwhile, recorded a very unhealthy API reading of 228.

Areas recording unhealthy API readings include 

Sarikei (197), Sibu (190), Bintulu (183), Mukah (176), Samalaju (175), Kapit (161), Miri (159) and the the Miri Industrial Training Institute (ILP) (156).

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and above 300 (hazardous).

API figures are updated hourly based on readings from 68 monitoring stations nationwide. — Bernama
