National Hispanic Media Coalition Announces 2026 Cohort for Series Scriptwriters Program (EXCLUSIVE)

The National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) announced its 2026 cohort of participants for its annual Series Scriptwriters Program (SSP).

Ten Latine writers from across the country were selected for an eight-week intensive, where they will develop scripts for an original television pilot that will be reviewed by SSP studio partners, including The Walt Disney Company, NBCUniversal and Netflix. They will also have access to networking opportunities within the industry.

Barbara Muschietti, the producer of “It,” “It: Chapter Two” and “The Flash,” provided the opening remarks for the program’s welcome ceremony on Monday. She also served as the co-creator of the HBO original series “It: Welcome to Derry.”

The NHMC Series Scriptwriters Program has helped accelerate the careers of Latine storytellers for 24 years, supporting more than 200 writers in developing their projects. Alumni from the program have gone on to work on notable shows such as AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire,” CBS’s “Matlock,” NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” NBC’s “Lopez vs. Lopez,” Starz’s “The Serpent Queen,” Apple TV+’s “Acapulco” and NBC’s “Something Wicked,” the upcoming reboot of “Bewitched.”

Working to eliminate hate, discrimination and racism toward Latine communities, the NHMC is a women-led non-profit civil and human rights organization. The program has also developed initiatives including Latinx Stream Showcase, Youth in Entertainment and media advocacy fellowship programs while also advocating for the Affordable Connectivity Program, Lifeline Program and Net Neutrality protections.
