You Can See Everything & Clayface Showdown Could Lead To Historic Box Office Record

You Can See Everything and Clayface are in the middle of the showdown of the year.

2026's You Can See Everything is a buzzy, record-breaking documentary co-directed by Lance Oppenheim (Primetime) and Nathan Fielder (The Rehearsal), documenting the time they spent with Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, before Holmes' prison sentence. It debuted at No. 2 behind Street Fighter on October 16 with the best opening weekend for a non-concert documentary since 2004's Fahrenheit 9/11. It stayed at No. 2 behind the DC Studios body horror movie Clayface the following weekend with A24's only week-on-week rise for a movie that opened on more than 600 screens.

Per Variety, as of Sunday morning, You Can See Everything is projected to end Halloween weekend with a 3-day gross of $10.5 million at the domestic box office. This sees the ongoing neck-and-neck race between it and the sophomore weekend of Clayface drawing perilously close, as the latter is also projected to earn $10.5 million. While Warner Bros. is officially calling Clayface as the No. 1 movie of the weekend with $10.4 million, but Deadline says You Can See Everything is at $10.6 million over Clayface. Given these too-close-to-call reports, it remains to be seen which ultimately pulls ahead.

If You Can See Everything takes No. 1, it will be the rare modern movie to hit No. 1 for the first time during its third weekend. The previous two times this happened were with 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and 2024's Mufasa: The Lion King. Both of those titles were Christmas season releases, which means they were primed to rise slowly to the top by the fact that the holiday season is known for small week-on-week drops and few major new releases in early January.

The last non-Christmas movie to hit No. 1 for the first time during its third weekend was Pixar's 2015 classic Inside Out, which was buffeted below the smash hit Jurassic World during its first two weekends. Should the Elizabeth Holmes documentary indeed rise to No. 1, it will therefore become the first non-Christmas movie in a decade to do so in its third weekend.

In addition to You Can See Everything and Clayface swapping places over the weekend, a similar coup was pulled off lower down on the chart. Street Fighter was pushed from No. 4 to No. 5 while the fantasy romance Wicker rose from No. 5 to No. 4 with a smaller drop thanks to an additional 903 theaters and a solid ability to connect with its core demographic, to the tune of a Verified Hot 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

While there has been a lot of movement on the chart, none of last weekend's Top 5 titles have exited the chart. No major new releases have debuted in the Top 5. In fact, the widest new release of the weekend, the holiday horror comedy Christmas at the Kringles, debuted outside of the Top 10 entirely. The movie, which is playing on 1,825 screens, earned a rare 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes and is expected to earn considerably less than $1 million.

It has been outmatched by multiple releases playing in fewer theaters, including the K-pop concert event BTS World Tour 'ARIRANG' In São Paulo: Live Viewing, which screened on October 30 in 1,010 theaters and is expected to hit No. 6. Meanwhile, the Indian action-comedy Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 - AK47 is set to debut at No. 10 after playing in just 367 theaters.

The reason no new major wide releases debuted this weekend was that Halloween was on Saturday, and while the holiday can provide a boost to horror movies, typically the evening of Halloween is filled with trick or treating and parties rather than moviegoing.

However, You Can See Everything led the charge to prevent this weekend from becoming the worst of 2026 so far, though the projected cumulative gross of $62.2 million makes it the fourth worst of the year behind the weekends of January 23 ($42.1 million cume with the Chris Pratt sci-fi movie Mercy at No. 1), February 6 ($47.9 million, topped by Sam Raimi's Send Help), and February 20 ($61.6 million, topped by DreamWorks' GOAT).
