‘SNL’ Weekend Update Roasts Trump’s Ballroom, Kristi Noem’s Divorce

Noem "said she is sad about the divorce, but is always happy to separate another family," Colin Jost jokes

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update mocked Donald Trump’s in-construction White House ballroom, former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s divorce, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s new military standards.

Co-anchor Michael Che began by noting how the president now says that the controversial White House project—which is being built on top of a six-story bunker—will have “armed drones.”

Che, in a toddler’s voice, continued: “And a moat, and a elevator, and a wazer gun, and a giant water swide.”

Che then turned to Noem’s split this week from Bryon Noem, to whom she had been married since 1992.

“I guess we’ll never know why,” Che joked, months after the revelation of Bryon Noem’s crossdressing habit, an example of which was shown on screen.

Co-anchor Colin Jost then weighed in.

“Kristi Noem said she is sad about the divorce, but is always happy to separate another family,” he joked.

Weekend Update also took aim at Hegseth’s speech to service members laying out his ideal makeup of the military: “no fatties, no trannies, no beardos, no weirdos, no wimps, no radicals.”

“So basically he’s banning the entire career of Mike Myers,” Jost joked.

Trump-endorsed Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton was made a punchline as well.

Che cited an Associated Press report that Paxton, the Texas attorney general since 2015, took over 275 out-of-state trips while in office.
