As India take on New Zealand in the 3rd T20I of the 5-match series on Tuesday, it isn't just the heavy wind that has threatened to derail the two teams' plans. New Zealand enter the contest after losing the first two games, meaning they cannot afford to let their performances slip again in the series. India, on the other hand, would be looking to seal the fate of the series early by winning the third T20I. However, rain could prove the dampener, with reports suggesting 87% chance of precipitation in Wellington on Tuesday.

According to a report in Accuweather, a total of 3 hours of rain is expected in Wellington on Tuesday (October 27), with the cloud cover expected to be around 56 percent. The probability of precipitation is at its highest in the morning, at 87 percent. In the afternoon, however, it reduces to just 3 percent.

In the evening, the chances of precipitation further reduce to just 1 percent. However, with high-speed winds blowing in the city, the forecast could change as the day progresses.

Wind Threat In Wellington:

The wind could blow in any direction once players step onto the field, making the three-sided, open Basin Reserve Ground unique in its positioning, but India's bowling coach Morne Morkel has a pro tip for the Test specialists, who are yet to touch down in the Southern Hemisphere. And the advice is: "Stand near a powerful fan to counter the speedy wind" that creates problems for visiting teams since time immemorial.

"We've spoken about Wellington, especially before the start of the tour, and we've planted those seeds. I spoke to some of the boys who were back in India last night, and they asked what the conditions are like. I said, 'Make sure you get a very strong fan at home. When you walk into the fan, that is going to be your preparation'," Morkel said on the eve of the contest, during a press conference.

On Monday, during a training session involving the Indian team, wind was reportedly blowing at 120 kmph.
