Clive Davis Grammy Party Will Return in 2027
Clive Davis‘s famed pre-Grammy gala will continue this Grammy season, the Recording Academy confirmed on Thursday, marking the event’s first edition since the prolific music executive’s passing four months ago.
The Recording Academy said Thursday that the party — which will once again take place at its Beverly Hilton home — would double both as its usual affair as a dinner and concert “while honoring the life and legacy of the late Clive Davis,” who died in June at age 94. The has for decades held a reputation as one of the most star-studded parties of awards season, with Davis first launching the event in 1976 to celebrate Barry Manilow. By 2009, Davis had partnered with the Recording Academy, and it’s been an official Recording Academy event ever since.
“Clive built this gala into something the entire music community looked forward to for five decades,” Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement. “He never did it for applause or recognition. He did it because he loved this community, believed in the power of music, and understood what it meant to bring us all together to celebrate it. I was lucky to call Clive a friend and mentor, and working with him taught me so much. That’s exactly the spirit he brought to the Pre-Grammy Gala and I know he’d want nothing more than for the show to go on this year. It’s our honor to celebrate the legacy he left behind.”
The Recording Academy said it would share more details on the event in the coming months.
Last year’s party featured the likes of Olivia Dean, Clipse, Sombr, Alex Warren and Art Garfunkel, with former president Barack Obama recording a video to honor Davis.
