Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Zuru Emirate, Kebbi State, have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris, declaring their readiness to work for their re-election in 2027.

The stakeholders said their support for the two leaders was driven by what they described as the governor’s interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare and agriculture, as well as his efforts to improve residents’ welfare.

The declaration on Sunday came barely a week after residents of Fakai, Sakaba, Danko/Wasagu and Zuru local government areas reportedly gave Idris a rousing reception during his tour of the emirate, expressing support for his second-term ambition.

The latest endorsement was made during the launch of a palliative distribution programme organised by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Zuru, for residents of Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru Local Government Area.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, a member of the Kebbi State APC Executive Committee, Alhaji Muhammad Saleh, assured Tinubu and Idris of the emirate’s commitment to their electoral success in 2027.

Saleh said, “The governor’s efforts to address infrastructure deficits through road construction and rehabilitation, alongside investments in schools, healthcare and agriculture, had strengthened his standing among the people.”

He described the interventions as “significant contributions that deserved appreciation”, adding that the people of Zuru Emirate were prepared to reciprocate the governor’s efforts with their political support.

Saleh also commended Idris for “inspiring political appointees and associates, including Sadaukin Zuru, to assist vulnerable residents and contribute to the socio-economic development of their communities.”

He said the governor had earned recognition beyond Kebbi State for what he described as his compassion, generosity, integrity and selflessness.

Also speaking, the Zuru Local Government APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Abiola, congratulated Sadaukin Zuru for supporting the less privileged and following what he described as the governor’s example of generosity.

Abiola described Idris as a “General Commander of welfare and generosity” and urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the financial assistance.

He encouraged those engaged in petty trading to invest the money in their businesses to increase their capital and improve their livelihoods.

In his remarks, Sadaukin Zuru thanked Governor Idris for giving him the opportunity to serve and contribute to the welfare of residents in his community.

He also acknowledged the support of the Kebbi State Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Shehu Muazu Haruna, for the initiative.

The empowerment programme, organised under the Sadaukin Zuru Empowerment Initiative for the Needy, provided financial assistance ranging from ₦10,000 to ₦20,000 each to more than 400 beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries included elderly men and women, youths and other vulnerable residents. The assistance was intended to help them meet basic needs or increase their business capital.

The event attracted APC stakeholders, supporters of Governor Idris, market women, youth and women’s organisations, students and associates from Kebbi, Niger, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
