Has Toy Story 6 been confirmed? Here's all we know as Toy Story 5 lands on Disney+

Toy Story 5 has officially landed on Disney+ after its cinematic run that saw it make $1.4 billion at the box office, the highest of the entire franchise (plus it had a record-breaking opening). Given its huge success, you'd expect the House of Mouse to have already announced Toy Story 6 — but it hasn't. At least not yet anyway.

That doesn't mean that the people involved haven't been talking about their desire to come back one more time, though.

Andrew Stanton, who has written all five films and and directed the latest one, has stated on more than one occasion that he sees 4 and 5 as parts of the Bonnie trilogy.

"[3 is] the end of the Andy years and [someone] can end it with Andy, but we've got another trilogy with Bonnie," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

In another interview, he told ScreenTime that Pixar will "hopefully" get to tell an entire trilogy about Bonnie.

"I want it to be honest like it has been and follow the lives of the kids," he said. "That's what I think really made that feel like a closed and perfect trilogy for Andy, and hopefully we'll do the same, if it keeps going, for Bonnie and whoever else comes into their lives. Andy had a perfect trilogy, hopefully Bonnie can have the same."

But Stanton also told Entertainment Weekly that Toy Story 5 (which we felt started a new era for Pixar) is "probably the last one I'm gonna do", while Woody voice actor Tom Hanks has stated that there had better be a good reason for making number six beyond making money.

"If you're gonna do another Toy Story, it better be worthwhile. It better be great. You better be examining some theme that is not just dragging it out because people like the title," he told Entertainment Weekly.

"I mean, it is a huge corporate business without a doubt, I'm not gonna discount that. But unless it's good, new, fresh, there's no reason to do it at all," he added.
