Porsche driver who went against traffic at roadblock surrenders

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A 43-year-old Porsche driver who drove against the flow of traffic at a police roadblock along Km6.5 of Jalan Ismail Sultan has surrendered at the Iskandar Puteri district police headquarters.
Acting Iskandar Puteri police chief Superintendent Saifullah Jaya@Yahaya said the suspect tested negative for drugs following a urine screening test.
He said police detected a 12-second video clip of the incident, which went viral on social media, showing the white Porsche being driven dangerously through the roadblock.
"The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving recklessly and dangerously," he said in a statement today.
Saifullah said an offender faces a maximum jail sentence of five years and a fine between RM5,000 and RM15,000 upon conviction.
"In addition, the suspect's driving licence can be suspended for a minimum period of five years," he said.
