Inches away from beating Backrooms

The horror reboot is inches away from surpassing Backrooms’ global haul. Directed by YouTuber Kane Parsons, Backrooms is A24’s all-time biggest hit domestically and worldwide. The A24 horror hit collected a massive $400.6 million haul at the worldwide box office. The video game adaptation missed the global haul of Backrooms by a whisker this weekend. It was less than $1 million away from beating Backrooms.

Resident Evil has probably surpassed the global haul of the A24 movie on Monday only, but the actual numbers are yet to be revealed. It will thus emerge as the second-highest-grossing horror movie of the year, only behind Obsession. The film targets a global run of $415 million to $425 million.

What is the film about?

The film follows a hapless courier assigned to deliver a package to a remote hospital, only to find himself caught in the middle of a terrifying outbreak, where he must battle hordes of mutated creatures to survive. Resident Evil was released on September 18.
