Gombe NSCDC reiterates commitment to public safety

The Gombe State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Commandant Jibrin Idris has reiterated the command’s commitment to public safety, discipline and the protection of critical infrastructure across the state.

Idris made this known while presiding over a management meeting attended by Heads of Departments and Units, Area Commanders, Component Commanders and Divisional Officers from the 11 Local Government Areas of Gombe State.

The outcome of the meeting was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, CSC Buhari Saad and made available to our correspondent on Saturday.

The commandant, while commending the personnel for what he described as their consistent professionalism, diligence and commitment to duty, noted that their efforts had contributed to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment in the state.

Idris, who also highlighted the operational gains recorded by the command in its intensified campaign against crime and criminality, particularly vandalism targeting critical national, public and private assets, stated, “Your efforts have yielded tangible results. I urge you to sustain this momentum and ensure that Gombe State remains inhospitable to criminal elements and saboteurs of public infrastructure.”

Speaking in professionalism and ethics, the commandant urged personnel to remain apolitical and impartial, stressing the need to operate strictly within the provisions of the law and the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedures.

He explained that discipline remained the bedrock of the NSCDC and warned that officers found violating the Code of Conduct would face appropriate disciplinary sanctions.

Idris, meanwhile, directed the Area and Divisional Officers to intensify community engagement, intelligence gathering and collaboration with sister security agencies and other critical stakeholders to strengthen proactive crime prevention and rapid response.

The meeting also reviewed the command’s operational performance and emerging security threats, while new directives were issued to improve operational efficiency and service delivery across its formations in the state.
