Emmerdale airs explosive Joe Tate and Caleb Miligan confrontation in early ITVX release

Translate

Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) has promised "fireworks" in Emmerdale after a confrontation with his uncle Caleb Miligan (William Ash).

Earlier this year, the millionaire vowed to avenge his wife-to-be Dawn Fletcher's (Olivia Bromley) death. Poor Dawn was convinced that her fiancé was untrustworthy, and was planning to flee the country with ex-hubby Billy (Jay Kontzle) on the day of her wedding. Caleb and his wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) provided assistance, offering accommodation and a contact who could provide fake passports.

Ultimately, the plan backfired. Billy confessed to Dawn that Joe wasn't the man he'd been painted to be, and she had second thoughts about their new life.

Returning to the village to be wed, Dawn and Joe were caught up in a horrific car accident and she suffered internal bleeding. After giving birth to their son, William, she passed away.

After several attempts at revenge, Joe teamed up with Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) to try and drive a wedge between the Milligans. Over recent weeks, we've seen Sadie pull Ruby away from work to drink in The Woolpack, something which has begun to anger Caleb.

He became concerned about his wife's drinking and reckless behaviour, and was stunned to see her dancing with Ross Barton (Michael Parr) in the pub earlier this week.

Sadie followed an upset Caleb home, and after telling him that she'd seen Ruby leaving the boozer with Ross, she managed to seduce him.

The next day, a guilt-ridden Caleb realised that his wife had actually slept on Vanessa Woodfield's (Michelle Hardwick) sofa. However, in a bizarre twist, Sadie met with Joe and told him that she hadn't spent the night with Caleb, and that there was no evidence to prove that either way.

Luckily for Joe, Caleb had accidentally revealed all.

In today's episode, her reasoning for backing out of the agreement was revealed. Sadie explained that she was developing real feelings for Caleb. Joe was furious that she wasn't going to work with him anymore, but he still had Caleb's confession in his arsenal.

He said that it was the most appropriate time of the year for the revelation to drop – and that Caleb should be very worried about the physical and metaphorical fireworks that were about to ignite.

Later, Caleb was quaking in his boots when he and Sadie passed Joe and baby William on Main Street. It was clear that Joe was enjoying seeing his uncle squirm, knowing that he could expose the secret at any moment.

When will that be?
