Linda Mwananchi Movement leader Edwin Sifuna has made his first appointment, selecting individuals to popularise the profile of the brand in preparation for the 2027 General Election.
In a notice, Linda Mwananchi appointed Pauline Njoroge as the interim head of communication, stating that she brings experience in political and strategic communication after her previous assignment, where she worked on presidential campaigns and for former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
Mr Sifuna last week unveiled The Equitable Party (TEP), with plans to rebrand it as Linda Mwananchi Movement (LMM).
“Linda Mwananchi leadership met yesterday (Monday) to review progress on the party’s rebranding process, as well as the ongoing structuring of the party and the presidential campaign secretariat,” part of the letter reads.
Ms Njoroge, who has expressed interest in an elective seat in the 2027 polls, resigned from Jubilee Party in July as deputy organising secretary, saying that she wanted to dedicate herself to the Linda Mwananchi movement.
The movement has also appointed the digital and media publicity team, which would be headed by Fredah Onduso, Abigael Gikonyo, and Charity Waweru.
The party also noted that more appointments would be made going forward as it gears up for the mega launch of the party.
Recently, the party said that the process of adopting the Linda Mwananchi Movement name had been initiated, coming days after the senator had acquired his new political party.
This follows the successful approval from the Registrar of Political Parties allowing the party to make changes to the names of TEP officials as well as clearing the administrative requirements.
The move is seen as a breakthrough for the Linda Mwananchi faction, following months of frustration with the Registrar of Political Parties and what was seen as the government’s attempts to prevent them from adopting the name.
The senator has announced that his party would be approaching the negotiation table with the like-minded opposition parties with the clear message of fielding a presidential candidate in the next election.
Even though Senator Sifuna is presenting himself as the best-fit aspirant to defeat President William Ruto, attention will also be focused on the other opposition outfits that have also claimed to be the strongest opponents of President Ruto.
Also, a fallout is looming in the opposition following the recent remarks by the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka, where he asked the elected MPs from his party to stop accompanying Senator Sifuna since he had acquired his party.
