Translate

KUALA LUMPUR: Asian champion S. Sivasangari swept past Egypt's Farida Mohamed in straight games to capture the Silicon Valley Open title in Redwood City, the United States, on Saturday.

The Malaysian third seed and world No. 4 won 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 in 31 minutes against the 24-year-old world No. 20.

The victory marked Sivasangari's third win over Farida in five meetings.

The 27-year-old has now won 18 PSA titles from 28 final appearances since turning professional.

It was also her third Gold-level title, adding to her triumphs at the Australian Open and the Grasshopper Cup in Zurich, Switzerland.

Last month, Sivasangari retained her Asian Games title in Japan to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
