Saravanan, family arrive at MACC headquarters for asset declaration notices

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Ex-human resources minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan and members of his family are at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya for statutory asset declaration notices to be served on them.

Saravanan arrived at the main entrance at 9.15am accompanied by his wife and two children in a convoy of two multi-purpose vehicles, NST reported.

The Tapah MP is currently facing three counts of graft involving RM1.097 million in alleged kickbacks four years ago, linked to the approval of a 1,000-person foreign worker recruitment quota for TYKB Engineering Sdn Bhd.

Saravanan, who is also MIC deputy president, claimed trial to all three charges at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Aug 28.

On Friday, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said that investigators would formally serve asset declaration notices on Saravanan, his wife, and their three children.

He said they were informed to present themselves at the MACC headquarters for the notices to be served.
