BTS & The Weeknd Break Records on Monthly Boxscore Report

For the second consecutive month and third time ever, two artists reported monthly ticket revenue of more than $100 million. And for the second straight month, those two artists are BTS and The Weeknd. Switching spots atop Billboard’s Top Tours ranking, they both finish among the top five biggest monthly grosses and five biggest monthly attendance figures since the 2019 launch of the chart.

According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, BTS returns to No. 1 on Top Tours with $171.7 million and 801,000 tickets sold over 12 shows in August. It’s the second biggest one-month gross in Boxscore history, falling just short of Beyoncé’s $179.3 million in August 2023.

This marks BTS’ fifth time in the pole position, following two victories earlier this year, one in 2022, and one in 2019. Only Bad Bunny (10 months at No. 1), Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Elton John (seven apiece) have spent more time on top.

BTS’ August routing encompassed six double-headers at North American stadiums. All six appear on the Top Boxscores chart, with five making the top 10. The biggest stop was at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (New York market). On Aug. 1-2, the group grossed $32.7 million and sold 158,000 tickets.

Plays at AT&T Stadium (Arlington, Texas), Gillette Stadium (Foxborough, Mass.), M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore, Md.), Soldier Field (Chicago), and Rogers Centre (Toronto) follow, each earning between $24-30 million.

The Arirang World Tour has exceeded $500 million in grosses since its April 9 kickoff in Goyang, South Korea. It’s one of fewer than 20 tours in Boxscore history to cross that threshold and makes BTS one of just seven groups to do so on one tour. It puts them in unprecedented territory as a pop group, as the other six ensembles are all rock bands.

BTS’ mammoth world tour continues in October with 14 shows in South America before returning to Asia for scheduled shows ranging from November 21 to March 16, 2027. With 40 shows left, its half-billion gross will grow much closer to the 10-digit mark.

After enjoying a month at No. 1 for July, The Weeknd slides to No. 2 on Top Tours with $146.7 million and 995,000 tickets sold. Though he ranks lower than last month, his gross rose by 18% – just not as much as BTS’ 67% surge.

And while The Weeknd falls below BTS’ revenue, he sold more tickets than any other act in August, coming tantalizingly close to one million tickets. Further, he re-writes the record for the biggest one-month attendance figure in Boxscore history, surpassing Harry Styles’ 967,000 from June 2023 and The Weeknd’s own 892,000 from July.

The Weeknd spent August in European stadiums, selling as many as 73,600 tickets per night during a five-night stay at London’s Wembley Stadium. Those shows compounded to $58.2 million and 368,000 tickets, finishing at No. 1 on the Top Boxscores chart.

Elsewhere – in Madrid, Dublin, Warsaw and Stockholm – The Weeknd litters the middle region of Top Boxscores, hitting Nos. 12, 14-15 and 17, respectively.

The After Hours Til Dawn Tour carries on, having kicked off in July 2022 and continuing in Asia through its final scheduled show on Nov. 5 in Kuala Lumpur. So far, the entire run has grossed more than $1 billion through its shows in Lisbon on Sept. 5-6. Another 17 dates to be reported could add another $125-150 million.

At No. 3 on Top Tours, Usher & Chris Brown’s The R&B Tour grossed $91.8 million from 465,000 tickets sold in August. It’s the tour’s second straight month between $90-100 million, in addition to two months where Brown’s solo 2025 tour fell in that region.

Karol G and Noah Kahan follow at Nos. 4-5, virtually tied at $88.3 million. Ultimately, Karol’s $88.333 million inched out Kahan’s $88.292 million by a difference of just $40,000 or 0.05%. Kahan played more shows and sold more tickets, but Karol’s run in football stadiums outpaces his string of shows in comparatively small baseball stadiums.

There has never been such a high threshold to make the top five, though Kahan’s $88.3 million is more than double the next highest acts. Foo Fighters, J. Cole, Backstreet Boys and Ariana Grande follow at Nos. 6-9, each with $33-40 million.
